“It was largely through inspirational conversations with Dany – in her position as Creative Industries Manager at Brighton & Hove City Council – that the concept of HOUSE, a much needed dedicated visual arts festival for the city, was incubated. Without Dany’s support and conviction, the event would not have come about.”
Judy Stevens, Artistic Director, HOUSE; Director Artists Open Houses.
The creative sector has always been a fast-changing environment, and never more so than the current time. With vast public spending cuts in process, this is a pivotal moment within cultural management. Changes to how organisations and agencies work, and work together, are inevitable, but how to not just survive, but thrive? These are questions arts managers are asking themselves at the moment, sometimes without the luxury of the timescales usually required for review, analysis and considered change.
In the last two years I have worked with micro, small and medium-sized arts organisations to help them:
- Think through how how they operate and deliver their arts activity within the current changing landscape for the sector.
- Conduct evidence based research that supports new thinking, policy development and forward actions.
- Strengthen the organisational foundations and future planning of the organisation.
- Provided a comprehensive external evaluation service for creative projects.
- Provided relevant and up-to-date information, CPD and training on cultural policy, professional practice and careers in the arts.
If you think I can help you in any of these areas, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
