This project created seven purpose built eco-friendly artists’ studios on the Bristol Estate in Brighton. Having converted disused drying spaces underneath some of the tower blocks, a thriving community of artists has taken up residence, continuig their own practices and providing participatory experiences for residents of the Estate.
The Council has leased the studios to the Bristol Estate Community Association at a rent of 1 peppercorn a year, providing the Community Association with an income.
Opened by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, and myself, in the role of Creative Industries Manager, Brighton & Hove City Council, on 8.10.08
